A drink brewed from tree bark, with an initial flavor similar to root beer but with a bitter finish. It is flavored with spices and cane sugar and becomes a flavorful iced tea when prepared well. The bitter aftertaste is always present but made mild when consumed ice cold. An acquired taste but a Caribbean classic.
